The Origin Story of Shivpuri Foundation
Every movement begins with a moment of quiet clarity. For the Shivpuri Foundation, that moment didn't happen in a boardroom or through a grand strategic plan, it happened in a crowded high school classroom in North East Delhi.
The Spark in the Classroom
It was near the end of the academic session during my teaching fellowship. The energy in the room was a mix of quiet focus and looming exam anxiety as I dictated a set of high-quality, advanced study notes. I wanted to give my high school students every tool possible to succeed.
As I walked down the aisle, I noticed something that stopped me in my tracks, a student sitting at his desk, silently weeping into his notebook as he wrote.
Confused and concerned, I pulled him aside after class to speak with him privately. What he shared wasn't just frustration over a tough lesson it was a heavy, overwhelming realization. As he listened to the advanced concepts being dictated, he realized just how far behind he truly was. Lacking fundamental foundational skills, he felt completely lost, convinced that it was already "too late" for him.
A Deeper Truth
His tears weren't just about a single class; they were the weight of a missing safety net. He had lost both of his parents when he was just ten years old. Without support at home to guide him or early intervention at school to bridge his learning gaps, he had simply slipped through the cracks of a fast-moving system. Standing there, he felt a heartbreaking sense of defeat as though his educational journey had reached a dead end before it had even properly begun.

That conversation stayed with me long after the bell rang. I realized his story wasn't an isolated incident.
The Bridge: Strategic Preparation
As my teaching fellowship drew to a close, I realized I couldn't simply walk away. What was supposed to be the end of a chapter became the beginning of a life's purpose.
However, I knew that passion alone wouldn't be enough to fix a systemic problem. To build an organization capable of creating real, sustainable impact, I needed to prepare myself deeply. Before formally launching the organization, I intentionally set out to go through crucial preparatory phases to master the pillars required to run a successful educational movement:

It was built out of that single, powerful realization: a child's past or present gaps should never dictate their future. We exist to catch those who are slipping through the cracks, rebuild their foundational learning, and ensure no student ever feels like it is "too late" for them to succeed.
